Week 1: During the first class, students will learn the American Sign Language Alphabet. After the course students will be equipped with sufficient knowledge to spell their names, and words. In the second class, we will briefly review the alphabet, and begin learning numbers. Week 2: In the third class, students will learn signs for family members/ relatives. They will also learn signs for food, and common household objects. In the last class, students will learn common phrases and sentences.
The goal for this course is for students to gain a knowledge of American Sign Language in order to aid them with basic communication skills. Also to provide students with a foundation in ASL that they can further develop.
Learners will be provided a copy of the American Sign Language Manuel Alphabet Chart. Learners should practice the Alphabet signs outside of class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
4 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
