American History: The Civil Rights Movement for Tweens
Class experience
Students will learn the history of the Civil Rights Movement. It is good for students of all diverse backgrounds to learn about the history of their country. The topics covered in this course will include the civil rights movement's timeline, leaders, and major events. The class will interact with the teacher and each other through lesson plans and learning activities. Student's knowledge of our past civil rights history will open the door for future unity and advocacy for continued equality...
Student will improve their knowledge of the civil rights movement, the sacrifices of civil rights activist and the key events that help establish equal rights.
In relation to my teaching experience, I have tutored and taught civil rights movements classes and workshops to young learners and college students for over 5 years. The civil rights movement is imperative to students' awareness of America, the world, and our past and future society as a whole. To make students comfortable with this topic, I create a safe space and promote inclusivity in my classroom settings, so that learners can express their opinions and feelings about this sensitive topic.
Student will need any color sticky note pads 3" x 3" for the Dr. King crown, crayons, pencils, and few sheets of drawing paper.
Due to the age group, and the sensitive nature of this topic, I will exclude any graphic or disturbing photos or language that relates to the civil rights movement, for example, Jim Crow photos.
