1 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this multi-day class, students will learn how to multiply and divide fractions. We will go through many questions, learn tricks, quiz each other during fun games and have healthy competitions. Throughout this process, students will be encouraged to participate, to make mistakes, to learn from their mistakes and to encourage others and be kind to each other. As a result, these learners will learn not only to multiply and divide fractions accurately, but also quickly. My teaching style is to show questions on the screen, and then ask each child to participate after I have taught them something simple for one minute. We increase in difficulty slowly as we move to more and more difficult questions. The required knowledge that each learner needs are basic multiplication tables, but even if you are rusty or make mistakes, we can learn those as well. Learners in this class must be open to participate, try and persevere as best they can. It might be difficult at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's amazing!
Learning Goals
Students will learn to multiply and divide fractions accurately and quickly. Students' accuracy will improve as well as their speed in answering these questions. Multiplying and dividing fractions is the basis for higher level mathematics up to Calculus.

Hello families!
I teach children with clarity, kindness and patience. Why? Because I love kids and I love to teach.
I am a certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor E-RYT, which means in addition to the 200 hours of teacher training as a Registered Yoga Teacher as of 2013, I have over 1000 hours of yoga practice, post certification. I have been practicing yoga regularly for the past 27 years. I teach two yoga classes a week, in person, in a gym with yoga studio near my home.
I have a degree from McGill University in Math and English Literature, I taught at high schools in Canada for five years as a math and science tutor. I later went on to teach at International Schools in Tanzania, British IGCSE for three years and one year at an IB school in Nairobi as their senior math and science teacher. There were so many highlights of living in Africa. I climbed to the summit of Kilimanjaro. I slept in the open African bush with lions howling not far away under the stars. I also learned how to drive stick shift on the left side, on dirt roads, all the while avoiding smashing into innocent chickens!
In my current job with the Canadian government, I train adult workers who maintain our City's water supply. In my previous position, I supervised my team of 20 to teach recreation programs to kids and adults. In January 2020 I wrote a conflict resolution module curriculum now used nationally, throughout my home country Canada, to train staff who teach kids aged 6-12.
Teaching has always been my passion. I love to help students see that even the most complex problems are manageable and doable. Hard or difficult at first does and can turn into worthwhile and wonderful. Through my style of teaching, learners gain confidence. They become stronger. They learn to tackle and welcome difficult situations. My communication style is to listen first, break down problems into manageable steps, and that's when the fun starts. There's no greater feeling than conquering something you thought you could never ever conquer. It's empowering and it's kind. Good education serves not only the student, but their families, our community at large and this impact creates positive change.
