Learners in Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 practice solving equations with two steps such as these: 5x - 8 = 12 12x + 3 = -34 -x - 8 = 11 15 = 3x - 3 x/6 + 10 = -2 These types of equations involve students understanding when to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in order to solve the equation. I'll walk them through the process step-by-step. I use scaffolded instruction, which simply means that I provide more support at the beginning and gradually students work more and more independently with each new problem. I provide guidance and feedback throughout the lesson. I'm a high school math teacher with a master’s degree in Education, and I specialize in working with students who struggle with math. Questions? HI! I’m Mary Kennedy, certified math teacher, and I love working with students who struggle with high school math and doubt that they can do it.
I've taught Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 and have more than 20 years of teaching experience. My Master's degree is in Learning Disabilities.
