Addition and Subtraction with Regrouping within 100

We will work on developing our knowledge of combinations to make a sum up to 100 (with regrouping). We will also grow our understanding of subtraction within 100 using two-digit numbers, WITH REGROUPING. 

This will be direct instruction with guided and independent practice. Students should have ability to count to 100 and have a working knowledge of place value. Students will understand what the plus, minus, and equal signs indicate. Students will interact with other students by checking one another's work. I will monitor progress through participation. Students will learn about compensation (using 51+49, for example), as well as regrouping using place value. Students should have a beginning understanding of place value, and the, for example, ten ones is the same as one ten, and ten tens equals one hundred. 

Students will need to have access to a printed worksheet and pencil. A whiteboard and marker may be useful. Students can also use counters to help them.

Classes will cycle through the four topics each month.
