Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
In this class that meets two times students will predict the number of candies in their M & M bag.
They will:
1) Compare their prediction the the actual number.
2) Make a comparison between their own numbers and the numbers of the other students in the class.
3) Find the least and most common colors
4) Make a bar graph
5) Make a pie graph
6) Make a line graph
7) Learn how to find the mean, median, and mode
8) Make a fraction of their findings
9) Convert the fraction to a decimal and percentage
10) State the probability of finding a yellow candy in a bag

Each learner will need to bring a VERY specific item to class. It is a 1.69oz package of REGULAR MILK CHOCOLATE M & Ms. (Please do NOT bring a larger or smaller size bag. Do NOT bring peanut, peanut butter, crispy, or any other flavor of the candy.) Each learner having the exact same product to work with is the only way that our data will be accurate.
Learning Goals
1) Making a bar graph
2) Making a circle graph
3) Making a line graph
4) Forming a fraction based on data
5) Convert a fraction to a decimal and percent
6) Learn how to find the mean, median, and mode for average
7) State the probability of finding a yellow candy in a bag of M & M's (or other candies)
