***2 students enrolled as of 5/1! In this eight week fifth grade math class, students will meet twice per week to learn and practice fifth grade math standards while having fun together! This class includes two homework assignments per week and teacher feedback!

Class experience

US Grade 5
Students will learn how to solve word problems with adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals. Students will also learn how to follow order of operations to solve problems. Other topics include rounding Decimals, place value, and multiplying and dividing whole numbers!
I have a bachelors degree in elementary education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have a masters degree in education from the university of North Carolina at Charlotte. I taught fifth and six grade math for eight years before becoming a stay at home mom to my three daughters. During my time as a math teacher I was teacher of the year at my school and a teacher mentor!
Homework Offered
I will provide approximately 10 practice questions following each class for students to complete the following day.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
I will assess student knowledge throughout class and communicate with parents weekly. Students will also have to homework assignments per week to complete. At the end of this course I will provide a test for students to take.
Grades Offered
A notebook to keep notes in, pencils, a glue stick or tape (to glue PDFs into our notebooks as needed!), post its, and any PDFs I send weekly!

Optional items include: a small dry erase board/maker, colored pencils/markers. We will not use a calculator much in quarter one and quarter two but a simple calculator may be helpful in the second half of the year!
In this quarter we will learn how to multiply and divide multi digit numbers. It is helpful if learners already know how to multiply and divide by a one digit number. Students should also understand how to add and subtract three and four digit numbers before taking this course.
