You're already in a homeschool charter program. You have an education specialist, an allotment to spend, and a learning plan you're building as you go. The question isn't whether alternative education works for your family — you already answered that. The question is how to get the most out of the resources your charter gives you. For tens of thousands of charter families, Outschool is a big part of that answer.
This is the part most families don't know until someone tells them. Outschool is a pre-approved vendor for more than 50 homeschool charter schools across California, Alaska, Arizona, Wisconsin, and Canada — including Blue Ridge Academy. That means your education specialist can fund Outschool classes directly from your allotment via purchase order. No out-of-pocket cost required.
If you're not sure whether your specific charter is on the approved list, email schoolsupport@outschool.com or ask your ES. New schools are added regularly, and if yours isn't approved yet, Outschool can start that process.

Once Outschool is approved at your charter, getting enrolled is a matter of a few steps. Find the class you want, then send your education specialist the class name, section date and time, a link to the class page, your Outschool account email, and your learner's name and age. Your ES approves it, the charter sends a purchase order, and Outschool processes it within 1-2 business days.
Two things that make it smoother: submit your request about two weeks before the class starts, and include a backup time slot. Popular classes do fill up, and charter families who plan ahead rarely miss out.

Charter funds typically cover both core academics and enrichment, and Outschool's catalog is broad enough to support both. You can use your allotment across multiple subjects, multiple learners, and multiple class formats — from ongoing weekly classes to one-time sessions to 1-on-1 tutoring.
Popular choices among charter families include:
One thing to know: charter funds cover individual classes, not an Outschool Membership. You'll pay per class through your allotment, which is straightforward and works well for most charter families' needs.

One of the things education specialists appreciate about Outschool classes is the built-in documentation. Teachers provide detailed class descriptions, and many offer optional assignments, progress notes, and work samples that you can use to satisfy your charter's reporting requirements. Classes are live and interactive — not pre-recorded — which matters for charters that require demonstrated instruction time.
If your ES has questions about a specific class or teacher, you can message the teacher directly through Outschool before submitting your request. Most teachers respond quickly and are used to working with charter families.
Charter families include a wide range of learners. Outschool's small-group format — usually 5 or fewer kids per class — means teachers can actually notice your child, adjust pacing, and answer questions in real time. For families whose kids need more focused attention, 1-on-1 tutoring is available and charter-fundable the same way group classes are.
Hundreds of classes are specifically designed for neurodiverse learners, including kids with ADHD, dyslexia, autism spectrum differences, and twice-exceptional profiles. You can filter by class size, search by teaching approach, or connect with a Learning Concierge to get recommendations tailored to your child's specific needs.

"Wonderful instructor! Ms. Neal was happy to have my son join in mid-year, and she worked to ensure he was at the same pace as the class. My son enjoys her teaching style and finds the material easy to follow. Ms. Neal also gives optional homework that can be used to satisfy our homeschool charter requirements for work samples." — Sharon Y. via Trustpilot ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
