Studies have found that reading fluency is huge predictor of reading comprehension. So what is reading fluency? It is a mixture of reading accurately, quickly, and with expression. Does your learner skip over or confuse "easy" words or small parts of longer words. This is the class for learners who just need a boost to get to grade-level reading. CLASS STRUCTURE We will follow the same general structure based on the theme for the week: DAY 1: • Target Skill Instruction • Word List with target skill to develop automatic reading and build fluency • High Frequency Word List • Practice reading Fluency Passage DAY 2: • Word Study with Big Words • Reread the Fluency Passage • Comprehension ⭐️ BONUS Word Sorts for at-home practice GET TARGETED SUPPORT IN: • Analyzing Phonics Patterns • High Frequency Words • Reading Fluency • Vocabulary and Word Study • Reading Multisyllabic words • Reading Comprehension Feel free to request a time that works for you! TEACHING STYLE My teaching style is rooted in the Science of Reading. Explicitly teaching phonics skills can benefit all readers but is especially useful for those readers who struggle to reach grade-level expectations. I use proven methods to teach these reading skills and strategies and aim to make it fun and engaging for everyone. As a special education teacher, I understand the importance of creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment. I am committed to nurturing your child's growth and encouraging a love for reading.
Learning Goals
Learners will recognize and read high frequency words with automaticity.
Learners will recognize the individual sounds in words and connect them to letters to decode (read) and encode (spell) words.
