Homework
There won't be any required homework, but I will always encourage learners (and parents) to continue learning and exploring class themes outside of class. For instance, during our fall theme, learners can take a nature walk and collect colorful leaves and pinecones! They can go to the library and find a book that digs deeper into a topic we're learning about in class. There are so many educational opportunities that take place outside of the classroom, and I love to encourage and inspire learners and their families to continue those learning experiences together.

Welcome to Preschool with Ms. Elizabeth! 🙂

✨In this ongoing course, learners will meet once a week for 30 minutes to learn about a different theme through songs, movement, stories & rhymes, and hands-on art and sensory activities.

✨We will practice pre-literacy skills, such as letter recognition, phonemic awareness, phonics, numbers and basic math, colors, shapes, and more.

✨Each class will begin with a circle time style intro, where we'll sing our Hello Song, go over classroom expectations, do calendar and weather, and then introduce our theme of the week.

✨ We will learn about seasons, weather, animals, family, friends, and even about ourselves and what we can do!

✨Learners will develop their fine motor skills and creativity through arts and crafts and hands-on activities. They will be able to practice thinking and social skills in a safe, comfortable environment with lots of encouragement and praise.

✨I will send the PDF files for the week on the Sunday evening before the beginning of the new week so that you know what to expect and what to bring to class.

✨Since this is an ongoing class, your learner can jump in at any time!

🕚 Note about the time: Each class will run for an average of 30 minutes, but depending on how many learners are enrolled, this class may last a little over or under 30 minutes.

🕐 We will have a variety of interactive activities to do during class, with fun transitions to encourage movement, so your learner will be engaged the entire time. If an activity is not working for your learner, we can always modify and change things up to suit your learner's needs.

🔈 Note about the mute/unmute settings:
Since this is a class for young learners, I will be using the mute/unmute button during class so that everyone can hear me and so that everyone gets a chance to speak in class. Before class, it would be helpful to either teach your child how to mute/unmute, have an adult nearby to mute/unmute for your child, or to change the settings so that the teacher can control the mute/unmute settings for your child. I can give directions for how to unmute, but I cannot change the unmute setting for your child on my end.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there! 😊

I'm Ms. Elizabeth, an early literacy and reading tutor for grades Pre-K through 2nd Grade. I also teach online preschool for ages 3-5 as well as art and reading/writing classes for ages 6-9.

My classes are fun, interactive, and highly engaging for young learners. I incorporate music, movement, stories, art, and hands-on learning activities for a holistic learning experience. I believe that a child-centric, play-based approach is best for young children as they learn.
I strive to create classes that spark my students' interests, engage with their curiosity, and inspire them to go even further in their learning. I love seeing my students get excited about reading, writing, creating, and exploring.

For my early reading tutoring classes, I follow the research-based science of reading principles, including teaching oral language, phonological awareness and phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading/language comprehension, and writing. I'm committed to helping your child learn the basic literacy skills they need to succeed in their reading journey. I use high-quality materials and individualize each tutoring lesson to fit your child's specific learning needs.

I've been teaching online for over 4 years. I began my teaching journey as an online ESL teacher, and then transitioned into teaching online preschool and early reading/writing classes.

I've been working with children for over 10 years as a babysitter, nanny, and tutor.

I have a Bachelor's degree in English/Creative Writing. Currently, I'm working on getting an associate's degree in early childhood care and education.

In addition to teaching, I also write fiction for young adults.

I love spending time at home with my husband and our two kitty babies, Kiki and Teddy. Once in a while, you may get to see a kitty in class too!
