US Grade 6 - 7
This is a 10-session camp for: 1. 6th grade students who would like to review and be ready for 7th grade 2. 5th grade students who would like a challenge and be ready for 6th grade Each session of class, we will start with an ice breaker discussion (e.g., would you rather question or student driven topic) then Miss McKinney will demonstrate topic of the day by solving 3 problems using Zoom Share Screen and Zoom White Board. Next, Miss McKinney will guide each student to solve one problem (e.g., child A and Miss McKinney will solve question #4 together) then have all students solve several problems (e.g., all students will solve questions #10, #11, and #12 then put their answers in private chat to teacher). Miss McKinney will use different RESOURCES to help students learn full-curriculum: 1. Barron's Common Core Success, Grade 6 Math 2. McGraw-Hill Education, Grade 6 Math, THIRD Edition 3. Spectrum, Grade 6 Math 4. Worksheets from IXL/Education.com 5. Evan-Moor, Grade 6 Math See the Syllabus for topics by session for each week.

“Kahoot! is a global learning platform company. Kahoot! games can be played anywhere, in person or virtually, using any device with an internet connection.” A Kahoot! game is a quiz with multiple choice answers and the games include topics such as Year End Math Assessment. Kahoot! is a fun way to test a student's knowledge of a math topic such as adding fractions, multiplying decimals, solving for area of a rectangle.
Kahoot! app is free and does not require an account. The teacher provides the website link (http://www.kahoot.it) and a game pin then the student creates a silly screen name; thus, no account is needed, and no personal information is given to Kahoot!
“Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. Khan Academy is also a free app and for this class will not require an account. The teacher will share screen of quiz questions, so no account is needed, and no personal information is given to Khan Academy.

1. Optional Textbook: McGraw-Hill Education Math Grade 6, THIRD Edition 2. Please note in this class we will be using annotation tools for Zoom White Board to practice math problems. Unfortunately, Chromebook does NOT allow students to annotate on Zoom White Board so your child will need a different device. If a desktop with mouse, or laptop with touchpad/mouse is not available for student, iPad or tablets do allow annotation.
