Class Experience

This is the asynchronous, self-paced version of my very popular Super Mario paper craft class. This class will have no live meetings and students will be able to work at a pace that is best for them. You will have access to step-by-step videos with detailed instructions on how to create each character. Students will have the ability to choose one of two ways to make each project and I will guide them in either way they choose. The first way to make their project will be using construction paper (and sometimes some coloring) and the second will be to use our printout and color it directly. We will cut and glue our character together creating awesome projects that each student will be proud of. Students of all skill levels will be able to complete these projects confidently and skillfully! Along with a each video, I will provide a printout that will serve as our guide to that character. Minimal supplies are needed to complete the projects.

Self-paced classes are great for students who have busy schedules, may not be comfortable in a live class setting or students who just like to work at their own pace with no pressure. I will always be available through email if students need any help or guidance.. I also encourage students to post their completed projects to the classroom so I can see the awesome art that we are all creating together. Students will have access to the videos for a full year

Week 1: Yoshi- If using construction paper you need green (or whatever color you want your Yoshi to be), yellow (or tan) and red paper.

Week 2: Bowser- If using construction paper you need red, yellow (or tan) and green paper.

Week 3: Shy Guy- If using construction paper you need red, brown, yellow and black paper.

Hi! I love to teach classes that are fun and promote discussion and creativity. In all of my classes I mix critical thinking with out of the box thinking so that the kids learn something brand new! I find the best way to do this is by using books, video games, trivia and other interactive components to keep them engaged and wanting to learn.

My passion for critical thought stems from my degree in Philosophy. The integration of pop culture in my classes is rooted in a lifetime of toy collecting, video game playing, and during my time as a staff writer for an online comic book review site. Over the past five years I have created community-based, pop-up craft classes for parents and children that integrate culture and thought, and I am excited about the opportunity to share these types of activities with my students!

Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my husband, son and three cats! I like online gaming and spending a lot of time crafting.
