In this class, we will dig into the content and instructional practices that students would receive within a brick and mortar classroom for their science block. We cover an entire science curriculum guided by the standards. Our instructional focus will support learners who are working on a first grade level or students needing standards based support for a first grade student. We will work on the skills, content, vocabulary, hands on learning, experiments, and standards students will need to master during their first grade academic year in science and over the summer. Each class will follow a general pattern for instruction. Content and experiments will be able to build upon previous lessons and standards, but each class will have a stand alone focus. I love to utilize open conversation and responses during class and students are welcome to stay off of mute (as long as there isn't an excess amount of noise disturbance). I strive to use mute only to help with background noise. Classroom management techniques are used to keep class engaging, respectful, and a kind -uplifting place. Class Flow: -Welcome (meet and greet with the teacher) - Introduction to content, vocabulary, and skill of that day with the visual support of google slides. - Class content learning, physical movements for memory reinforcement, and discussions with the visual support of google slides. -Application of content on a foldable, journal entry, notes page, experiment, or hands on learning craft/ activity with the visual support of google slides and step by step instructions. -Summary and goodbye (with the teacher and class). Students are able to come an go within the course all year as long as their is an opening for enrollment. Resources for the week will be sent out in advanced if there is a printing need for resources (worksheets, foldables, vocabulary cards) Class Weekly Topic Breakdown: 🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎 🍎 New Fall Semester to Begin August 12. 🍎 1st Semester to begin (week of) August 12, 2024 1 week off at Thanksgiving (November 25- 29) 1st Semester ends December 20 Week of October 28 November 1- Week 12 Planets (discovering the inner planets of our solar system, details, and making a solar system hat!) ❤️Week of November 3- Daylight saving time will end and the class meeting start time will be impacted. Florida Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
I’m a compassionate and charismatic teacher who loves to teach! I have taught Kindergarten through 5th grade students for the last 14 years. In that time, I have been a general education teacher in the public schools setting for 10 years. Two of those years, I was a reading specialist. I have been teaching online since February 2020. I’m certified to teach Elementary education from Kindergarten to 6th grade. I absolutely love teaching First Grade. I taught First Grade for 8 years, in the public school setting and 4 years on Outschool. It is one of my favorite grades to teach. One of the largest academic transformations occurs in First Grade. I’m looking forward to sharing this fun class with your wonderful student!
