We will work on different projects at each class and the student will build on what they learned in previous classes.

I welcome learners of all identities and backgrounds into my classes.

This is a drawing class for the young , beginner artist. We will practice drawing shapes and squiggles and then discover how to create a beautiful drawing with those skills.

I love to spark the student's imagination, and see if they can tell me a story about what is happening in their picture.

I will teach drawings with a step by step method, so that the student can easily follow along.

This class is designed to build confidence and self esteem, as well as foster creativity.

I will work with the student at their level and within their interests about art and drawing. They have have some choices of what we can work on during each class.

Each class is individualized for the unique learner, in regards to their level, skills and interests.

This is a hands on, engaging art class. The student will practice their creative art skills and create some new drawings.
Usually the student will have a completed drawing by the end of class, or a nearly completed drawing that they can finish after class.

If the student prefers to work on practice drawings to improve skills, that is another option.
They do not have to work on a complete finished drawing , if they prefer to use the class for skills practice.

There will be some choices and options, as we go along, so that the student can cater the lesson to their own style.
Some things the student may choose to learn and practice are drawing animals, creating scenic settings, abstract designs, shading, and more.

My teaching style is relaxed and casual , with a focus on helping the student to build self esteem and confidence.
I strive to create a relaxing , encouraging atmosphere during class, to help the student to focus and to explore their artistic skills.

Art class teaches life skills including listening and following skills, as week as problem solving skills. Practicing art also helps to build self esteem and self confidence. Drawing is a great way for your learner to explore creativity, improvisation, and observational skills.

I will teach each drawing using a step by step process, so that the student can easily follow along. I will have them show their progress with the camera, as we are going along, so that I can help them along the way.
I will offer encouragement and listen to their ideas about what the art they are creating.

I have been an Outschool teacher since May of 2020. I love teaching on Outschool and sharing my love of art and music with the students.
I have 20+ years experience, as a teacher.
My teaching experience includes art, piano, electric keyboard, guitar, and general music classes, in both the classroom and private settings. I homeschooled my two children and enjoyed many fun hours of creating art and drawing with them. Both of them are now part time artists, as adults.
My brick and mortar school teaching includes being head of the music department at a private high school in Maryland.
I taught private piano and guitar lessons at a guitar shop, for 5 years, in addition to my own private students in my studio.
I have a bachelor's degree in music education, from Towson University, plus graduate studies in music education.
