Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this beginner ballet class, we will learn the basics of ballet techniques and movements. Starting with a proper warm-up and stretch to make sure our bodies are ready to work, warming up our legs, toes, and cores.

Next, we will cover a short barre warmup/technique training. This will consist of plies, tendus, degage, battement, and so on. Learning new skills each week, and making sure they are performed correctly. Correction on the student’s performance of skills will be given throughout the class.
With each passing week, we will add to our knowledge of ballet training and steps and will have so much fun doing so.

Within our time together, dancers will learn skills such as:
 Plies, tendues, and passe.
Five positions and degage.
First, second, and third arabesque.
Chasse and coupe.

EXPECTATIONS FOR SOUND QUALITY AND MUTING

My desire is to have all students unmuted for the entire class. It creates an ease of interaction. For this to occur, it is important to have your student situated in a quiet place free from background noises such as televisions, radios, phone calls, or conversations.

As the teacher, there are times that I will need to use the mute function. If a student has background noise that may be distracting to other students, I will let the student know that they are being muted to help the sound quality.

I realize that there are times when you may need to mute your own child for privacy reasons or due to unavoidable background noise, so please feel free to use your discretion in these circumstances. Also, please show your child how to unmute him/herself when asked to do so.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Although it is not required for this class, as a matter of beginning the discipline of ballet, the following things are strongly encouraged: Tights, Leotard, and Hair in a Bun. However, the following are required, Baller slippers, an open area with room for movement, preferably a 4x4 open space, a water bottle if needed, and hair pulled out of face for proper movement, and a ballet barre or chair back to use for technique training. Proper stretching is important to prevent injuring the body. Although we will start class with a brief stretch, please make sure your little dancer stretched on their own before class begins, in order to prevent injury.
