I'm happy to help! Animal Drawing Class with Posca Acrylic Markers: Join this fun, weekly online art class where young artists will learn to draw and color realistic animals using vibrant Posca acrylic markers (or other brands). In this step-by-step class, students will develop their artistic skills by sketching animals in their natural environments and bringing them to life with color. Class Structure: Each week, students will: - Sketch an animal using a drawing pencil, starting with simple shapes like circles, ovals, and squares. - Draw a background based on the animal's natural habitat (e.g., jungle, savanna, ocean). - Color the animal and environment using Posca markers for bright, vibrant results. - The class is designed for all skill levels—no prior experience necessary! What to Expect: Live Zoom Classes: with two cameras: one focused on the instructor and the other on the drawing pad, so students can follow along easily. Step-by-Step Guidance: The instructor draws alongside students, explaining each technique in detail. Students can ask questions and show their work for feedback during the class. Encouragement & Motivation: The instructor offers constant support, ensuring each student feels confident in their progress. Classes are interactive and designed to be enjoyable, with positive reinforcement throughout. Weekly Themes (January – April 2025): January: - Week of the 27th: Sloth February: - Week of the 3rd: Narwhal Whale - Week of the 10th: Platypus - Week of the 17th: Hippopotamus - Week of the 24th: Zebra in the Savanna March: - Week of the 3rd: Great White Shark - Week of the 10th: Koala - Week of the 17th: Butterfly - Week of the 24th: Komodo Dragon - Week of the 31st: Meerkat April: - Week of the 7th: Okapi - Week of the 14th: Coral Reef - Week of the 21st: T-Rex (Dinosaur) - Week of the 28th: Orangutan May: To be announced! Why Choose This Class? Flexible & Fun: Classes are held once a week, and you can stop attending at any time. Each session builds upon the last, so students continuously improve their skills. Creative & Interactive: Perfect for young artists who love animals, bright colors, and learning new techniques. Comprehensive Learning: Students will not only learn drawing and coloring skills, but also how to create realistic animals within their natural habitats. Ongoing Class – Join Anytime! This weekly class allows students to join at any time, with no prior drawing experience needed. Since each student works at their own pace, they may not finish their drawings within the class time, but they'll leave with new skills to complete their artwork independently. Attendance: The class will begin on time. In order to create a smooth class for my students, I will have to continue forward if a learner arrives late. All of my classes are recorded. If a learner arrives late to the class, I will encourage them to watch the recording after class to catch up on anything they may have missed. About the Instructor: With over 12 years of experience as a professional artist, and having taught art since 2021, I provide personalized, step-by-step guidance in a relaxed and positive environment. My goal is to make learning art fun and engaging for students of all levels!
Learning Goals
I want my students to develop their drawing skills and show them sketching and shading techniques that can help them in future drawings they do in there own.
I teach them to think of what we draw in a simple way. Going step by step we “build” the animal we are drawing using simple and familiar shapes such as ovals and triangles.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I’m a fine artist working out of my home studio in South Carolina. I have been a fine artist since 2013 and an art teacher since 2021.
I specialize in watercolors, colored pencils, alcohol and Posca acrylic markers as well as
acrylic paints. I greatly enjoy painting and drawing realistic animals, landscapes and
cityscapes. I also make pet portraits in my own artistic style. I love drawing all kinds of wildlife such as cats, dogs, lions, whales, dolphins and more in their natural habitats. Everyday I discover new animals to draw and paint and I love sharing these with my students.
I love teaching and sharing what I have learned with others about drawing, painting, sketching and animal anatomy.
In 2023 I started teaching art classes on Outschool to children and teens. Teaching has helped me learn how to explain art concepts to my students as well as improve my own art skills.
I enjoy using vibrant, rich colors that may not be natural to the
subject, but give it an interesting and striking appearance. I like to
highlight the main subject with light and shadow giving it form and
depth.
When creating my artwork, I start with choosing the person or
animal I want to draw. I then either browse photography websites until I
find a reference photo I really like or I draw from my imagination. From
there I work on coming up with a composition and color scheme.
I am constantly working towards improving my craft and
furthering my skills as a fine artist. By doing this, I can improve my work
and better educate my art students.
Reviews:
"My daughter loves this class! And I love seeing her animal drawing after. Last week was an otter floating on its back and it was so adorable. This is greatfor any kiddo who wants to learn drawing techniques and drawing animals from a very patient and engaging teacher." April T.
"My daughter is 12 years old, likes to doodle and loves animals. She had a wonderful session with Andy. He is calm and his instructions were very easy to follow. He provided feedback to her as the class progressed. She drew a clownfish with him and it is one of the best drawings that she has ever created." Jessica W.
