This class will cover social studies themes such as communities, families, economics, geography, needs vs wants, US landmarks / symbols, and more. I will use songs, books, video clips and art to create an interactive learning environment to help students stay engaged. I have taught elementary school for 12 years and believe in hands-on learning to help with student retention of materials. Due to my art therapy and special education background, I utilize various art activities as well as hands-on manipulatives and interactive materials to keep learners engaged.

OVERALL MATERIALS for DAILY CLASS participation: 1. Construction Paper 2. Extra White Copy Paper is Handy 3. Pencils 4. Erasers 5. Crayons (markers are messy) 6. Glue Sticks (white glue is messy) 7. Scissors 8. Access to a printer: I will send out any topic specific handouts by the Sunday of the upcoming week. I tend to send 2-3 weeks at a time. 9. NOTE: theme related materials for special projects (ie: model magic, paint, etc) will be sent out ahead of time to give you enough time to gather them for class.
I use researched-based curriculum from study.com, generationgenius.com and brainpopjr.com / brainpop.com.
