In this fun, engaging flex training course, this successful Certified Dog Trainer/Teacher will be teaching learners how to train their own dogs basic obedience using positive techniques and commands. Week 1Lesson 1Introduction: Commands: Sit and Sit-Stay, Name RecognitionMy lesson is about learning how to teach commands and the sit-stay command, and name recognition. They will play a game, "The Name Game."Week 2Lesson 2Command: Down, Trick: Puppy Push UpsMy lesson is teaching the down command and a trick, "Puppy Push Ups."Week 3Lesson 3Controlled or Loose Leash Walking and RecallMy lesson is about how to get your dog to walk nicely on a leash and teaching them to come when called.Week 4Lesson 4Command: Leave It and DropMy lesson is about teaching your dog to leave and drop things. We will play a game using two of the same or similar squeaky toys.

- Students will improve their skills in training their own dogs to listen and obey commands. They will learn ideas to solve problems of various behavior issues in their dogs. Additional goals are to have fun and learn how to have positive experience with their dogs or puppies. The learner will strengthen the bond of communication and interaction between human and dog.
Teacher is a Credential Elementary School Teacher, ISCDT Certified, an AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator and tester observer with Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Teacher gives basic dog training lessons at the local park and recreation center.

This class will adapt to any special needs indicated by learner. The teacher will use visuals, hand signals, repeating and reducing instructions, slowing down speech among other adaptions as indicated by learner.

Dogs are unpredictable and may not always learn at the same pace. Puppies should be older than 3 months. Children must have control of their dog and be able to follow directions.
