US Grade 3 - 5
This class is taught by a Certified Financial Planner Professional who guides learners with a crash course in financial literacy. We'll be following our 10-yr old friend "Kai" on a money earning, saving, and spending journey! Learners can join at any time as each class has continual review as well as newly introduced concepts. Each class will include a summary of concepts and what we covered in class. We will cover a variety of money topics, plus any other topics that learners have questions about. The following topics will be touched on, in addition to continual discussions about budgeting and money management. November: Earning money, future planning December: Recognizing scams and fraud January: Investments and borrowing money February: Saving and tracking spending Content is continually changing and evolving, based on learner interaction and questions. Learners are encouraged to bring outside and previous knowledge to each class.

This class uses screenshare and optional learner self-directed Nearpod use (Nearpod.com). Youtube videos will be shared in class and as an additional resource via the Outschool classroom. No accounts are required, for either resource.

As a Canadian CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® Professional, "Mrs. Alyx" (Alexandra (Alyx) Valdal) is passionate about financial literacy for the next generation! Teaching kids about money is so important for establishing good habits and understanding that money is just a tool to be used.
Mrs. Alyx has lived and taught different subjects in Canada, England, and Japan. She has taught learners from age 2 to 72 from preschool to college courses and loves engaging with excited students. In her Outschool classes, Mrs. Alyx helps learners reflect on their own money values through talking about needs and wants and how money can work in our lives, now and in the future.
