Class Experience

In this ongoing course, students will meet once a week to learn effective ways to ask and answer questions in Tagalog. While not necessary, I recommend that students take my Tagalog introductory classes before enrolling this course. This course will not cover the Tagalog alphabet and numbers unless they are part of the lesson outline.

There will be simple to complex questions to provide students with a variety of examples. Dialogues will encompass different types of situations to practice asking and responding with sentences. Students will engage in situational dialogues with me and the rest of the class, encouraging them to speak Tagalog using the target sentences provided. This course is designed for students who are open to learning, speaking, and understanding Tagalog.

Students will receive a handout/worksheet for extra practice at home. Activities will be included to promote participation and enhance the students' understanding of the subject matter. The slides and useful graphics I prepare for my classes will help students better grasp the target vocabulary and overall concept of each lesson. We will introduce new concepts each month with plenty of examples and new vocabulary.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I was born and raised in the Philippines; and speak four major Filipino languages/dialects. It excites me to see families giving their children the gift of connecting to their cultural roots through language. With this in mind, I have published some Tagalog books on Amazon that I believe are helpful for families learning Tagalog at home.

Before moving to the US, I was a licensed school teacher in the Philippines and taught Filipino in the classroom. I understand the challenges of learning a new language and strive to be patient and kind to my students. I work to create a fun and engaging learning environment for them and measure my success by my students' progress.
