Do you want to learn more about Japanese culture? Are you interested in traveling to Japan? Take the time to learn more about the culture, food, traditions, and etiquette before you go. **This is a self-aced class. There are no live meetings. I offer a live section of Journey to Japan that is an ongoing club in a separate listing. While researching content for this class, I make an effort to collaborate with friends of mine who are Japanese. I look for sources that are written by people from Japan and/or who are well-qualified to speak about the topic. I lived and worked in Japan for two years. My intention is to share what I have learned about Japan with students in a way that is respectful of Japanese culture and traditions.
Homework Offered
Each week students will view the video lesson posted in the classroom. After viewing the video, students will take the comprehension quiz by using the link posted in the classroom. Kahoot is used for this purpose. Visit the website to learn more about how it works: kahoot.com. After viewing the video and taking the quiz, students will participate in the discussion board. Each week, a discussion question will be posted in the classroom that is related to the weekly topic. Students can participate in the discussion with the students and teacher.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
