IEW Summer Camp Mini Course: Stories in the Stars
In this four day course, learners will explore the Orion constellation the IEW way. This is a beginner course to acclimate learners to the IEW method. It can also be a fun refresher course for learners who have had a little experience.

Week 1Lesson 1OutliningThe IEW method will be introduced and reviewed. We will outline today and practice retelling.Lesson 2More OutliningWe will continue to practice outlining information today. Learners will have an opportunity, time permitting, to retell from their outlines.Lesson 3Write it Out!Learners will practice writing from their outlines today. We will do as many paragraphs together as we can. The remainder will need to be done at home. Parental guidance may be necessary.Lesson 4Let's Dress it Up!All rough drafts should be brought to class today. I will choose stylistic techniques to work on and add to paragraphs to make them more interesting. Final copies should be completed at home and turned into me for feedback (if desired) within seven days of our final class.
- Learners will practice outlining and public speaking in a live setting while writing with IEW's structure and style techniques. Learners will have the opportunity to create an ebook project on their own time with their stories.

There aren't any prerequisites for this class. Assignments can be altered to meet the needs and abilities of every student.
A packet that can be printed will be sent before the first class. The learner may also need lined paper, and will most definitely need a writing utensil. IEW recommends a pen.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Google Drive will be used to organize resources needed to participate. YouTube videos of the stories will be embedded in the Outschool classroom if learners would like to watch a short video of the stories they are working so hard on. Flip(grid) will be used, at the discretion of the parent, to record retellings of the information and stories. Quizlet links to vocabulary will be provided. Learners can use these words in their paragraphs to give them more flair. Time permitting, we may play a vocabulary game during live instruction.
