This twenty-two-week intense college prep course covers Human Anatomy in detail. This course is for homeschooled students seeking a health career or even just to get the required science credit that some colleges prefer for other degrees. This course fulfills the Advanced Biology course on a high school transcript. It is also great for students who really enjoy studying the human body.

  • This course will help students better understand the anatomy and physiology of all body systems and how they work together.
I have thirty-five years of teaching experience at the high school level. I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Art. Plus, I am a lifetime certified, a secondary teacher who still continues to learn online.
In recent years, I've taken several online courses to stay current on what is being taught now.
Vital Signs: Understanding What the Body Is Telling Us from the University of Pennsylvania
Drugs, drug use, drug policy, and health from the University of Geneva
Emerging Trends & Technologies in the Virtual K-12 Classroom from the University of California, Irvine
1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Homework
Frequency: included
Feedback: included
Details: Students will have reading assignments, videos, coloring sheets, and handouts to complete each week. Homework shouldn't last more than 2-3 hours a week.
Assessment
Frequency: included
Details: Students must submit all homework for an assessment grade. There will be oral quizzes and group discussions, too. There are NO academic exams. I can reference exams upon request but they are optional. There is an end-of-the-course presentation that students must do to complete the course.
When taking this course, students should have already taken Biology and Chemistry. This course is an advanced biology course that focuses on the human body. A student needs to be self-motivated and able to stay on task.
I will give the students a heads up as to when they will need the supplies for a lab. These labs may or may not be done in class time. However, the lab must be done to fill the requirement for the course.
These are short and safe labs for students to better understand the physiology of the body.

Students will be exposed to various preserved specimens (sheep's eye, heart and rabbit lung, etc. ) and medical terminology that the endocrine and reproductive system will cover.

Students will also be viewing videos on Youtube to better understand various bodily functions an anatomical parts.

CK-12 will be the class reference text used for reading assignments and answering worksheets.
We will use the Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology Text online.
We will use YouTube to explain various bodily functions.
