Beginner - Advanced Level
Let's have fun creating while learning about a very important part of life: CELLS and GENETICS! Students will be introduced to the basics of these 2 units of biology while building with dough. Students have also drawn, colored, sketched, used Legos, and even painted in my class, so the options are endless! Students will learn interesting facts about their cells, genetics and more through discussion, Q&A, interesting videos, and a hands-on activity! Students will construct many science models, for example, the cell membrane (fluid mosaic model) will be built to understand and demonstrate how different types of cell transport work. Learners will need at least three small cans of play-dough. Students may use more colors for a more detailed model (4-6 cans of Play-Dough or clay). I will be using a second spotlighted camera to show step-by-step directions as we create and learn together. Handouts will be provided before each class. Students may print it out to use as a reference or mat to work on. I will talk and ask questions about the topics while creating them. Students can share their finished masterpieces in class or by posting pictures in the classroom. Join anytime you want! Each class will include a range of teaching methods and activities that are designed to engage the learners in both a hands-on and minds-on way. Classes will include Q&A, slideshow, fun facts, hands-on activities, worksheets, videos and much more. Learners will be encouraged to observe, explore, question and share what they learn. A variety of methods are used to support learners and cater for different learning styles and needs.
