Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Beginner Level
This reading class is a 20-minute session for ESL students, focusing on reading and active engagement in conversations about the book and personal experiences.

**Lesson Structure:**

1. Introduction: Begin with icebreakers, asking spontaneous questions about the learners' day or their favorite part of the week.

2. Reading & Activity: The teacher will read aloud to provide scaffolding. Learners will then reread the story to improve pronunciation, intonation, and comprehension. Active engagement through open-ended questions with the text is encouraged.

3. Reflection and Wrap-Up: Learners will share their favorite part of the story, reflect on it, or doodle something related to their favorite part.

The most important aspect is that learners feel relaxed and enjoy their learning experience. This is essential for promoting motivation and creating an environment where learners feel comfortable expressing themselves and taking risks with the language.

For additional availability, please use the "Request Another Time" button to request a session tailored specifically for your learner. I’m happy to assist!

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone,

Thank you for visiting my profile. My name is Michelle, and I'm so excited to join the Outschool community! Although I am originally from South Korea, I was born and raised in the US, Switzerland, and Dubai (UAE). I began teaching in 2008 when I volunteered at international schools and colleges in Mongolia and Indonesia, teaching introductory courses in marketing, management, and English. The experience was incredible, and the students were absolutely amazing.

Since 2017, I have taught at international schools in South Korea, working with students aged four to sixteen. My teaching subjects include English, Science, Social Studies, and Geography. My two core teaching philosophies are:

1) Valuing each student’s learning style: I prioritize patience and understanding of each individual's culture and learning progress, making each student feel valued, and fostering a supportive community in our virtual classroom.
2) Making learning a fun journey: I am passionate about working with kids and love what I do. I focus on building rapport with my students to make learning a joyful and engaging experience.

Thank you and I hope to meet some of you young learners soon!
