Class Experience

Beginner Level
🎮 Please request a time for this class! 📆

IMPORTANT: This is designed for NEW players.

Is your learner struggling to level up? Has a lot of questions about Fortnite basics? Stymied about how to complete a Death Run? Looking for a gaming buddy to get some more Victory Royales? Gaming Teacher Laura can help with that!

Each 50 minute session is 100% learner directed, to help them reach their goals in Fortnite. As well, if they're just looking for someone to walk them through a game, we can do it!

Gaming Teacher Laura's Fortnite info:
* played on the Nintendo Switch (not going to lie...it is rugged and not for everyone!)
* currently playing on Playstation
* started in Chapter 2 Season 5 (when sand tunneling was still a thing)
* always does the Battle Pass and usually does the Festival Pass as well!
* loves easy-medium difficulty Death Runs as well as Escape Rooms!
* is a more chill Fortniter (not super competitive)
* can help with basic builds and edits (not double or triple edits; recently upgraded to the PS 4 and am working on getting those edits fancy 🙃 since doubles and triples are not my forté)
* has too many skins at this time 😅 (like, 265 and counting...I've already surpassed my brother, who got me into Fortnite!)
* loves the Fortnite events (especially musical ones)
* favorite time of year is Fortnitemares, followed closely by Fortnite's Christmas stuff

🎯 IMPORTANT: If you're looking for help with aim, I can make suggestions. However, I will tell you straight up that some major factors that will affect your aim are
#1 what you play on (Nintendo Switch ROV is abismal compared to the PS5, for example)
#2 your settings (which you'll have to experiment with because everyone has a distinct sweet spot as far as settings)
#3 practice

🎧 Your personal checklist:
* have Fortnite installed on the video game device or PC the learner is going to use
* have their account with username so we can start playing immediately (no refunds provided in case of not having the game downloaded or having to spend time in class updating
* check the game several hours before class to make sure you don't need to update (some updates can take 2-3 hours if you have a slow internet)

⏰ No-show policy: if no learners are in the classroom after 10 minutes, the Zoom session will be ended (this is Outschool's general policy for no-shows).

🎮 I am flexible with age ranges, given that this is a one on one class!

🤬 Strong language policy. While I know each family has its own standard as far as language, please remember that this is a PG-language platform and that learners should not curse during class time. If that happens, I normally give them a verbal reminder the first time. The second time, I will send a written reminder to the parent/guardian about the incident.

Learning Goals

Parental Guidance
Fortnite is a Battle Royale game that includes violence and weapons. The object is to be the last team standing. Please refer to Common Sense Media for a more in-depth analysis of suitability for your learner: https://www.commonsensemedia.org/blog/parents-ultimate-guide-to-fortnite Upon signing up, PLEASE keep in mind and follow Outschool's policy for gamer tags and gaming classes: * Learners or parents should message gamer tags directly through a private message * Never allow learners to share their gamer tags in the classroom page (this means teacher or parents should delete comments from learners that do). Thank you! * Per Outschool's policy, we must be on a private server at all times. * Per Outschool's policy, learners are not allowed to continue on the server without the teacher; therefore the learners must leave the party at the end of class time.
