Assessment
The assessment is sending videos of your child's progress for me to view their Number Tracing Routine so that I can support proper formation.

Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Beginner Level
Nature-Based: In this two week self-paced course, students will follow a tracing routine and have nature-based sensory items that are easy to collect from your own backyard. Incorporating auditory, oral, tactile, and visual senses will support the student’s retention of these foundational skills. This class is very hands-on for the parents/caretakers, but each class will only have about 15-20 minutes of material each day in which you need to support your learner in making the correct formation. You will also need to be willing to go on nature hunts to collect the items listed. This structure will allow your child to eliminate confusions, but they must be monitored to ensure they are not continuing to form the numbers incorrectly. I will teach with videos and offer numerous multi-sensory, nature-based activities and games that help the students transfer the information to new contexts.

Two weeks is considered a short intervention time in the education world and may be inadequate for some learners to completely conquer the task. That is okay; learning for everyone is different. To ensure your child’s progress, it is encouraged that you are willing to send a video once a week of their number formation. Should your child still need support after two weeks, you can just continue using the resources that I have provided or we can discuss different options.

The routine of number tracing will support number formation, number recognition, develop cardinality foundations (helping the child learn that the abstract number is attached to a quantity), and transferability (helping the child to recognize and form a number in other contexts than the one that the child originally learned it in).

No previous required knowledge is needed. This is a foundational skill that will support the development of number concepts!

~Estimated time completion for each class: 15-20 minutes

~Teacher Communication: If you message me, I will respond by 10pm CST or the following day if after that time.

~There is a daily "Teacher Check In" video that I will respond to everyday by 10pm CST should the student engage with it!
Learning Goals
Students will form numbers 0-9 consistently, efficiently, and quickly to reduce cognitive load in deciding where to begin their formation.

Students will connect the abstract digit with a quantity.
