Homework
1-2 hours per week. Optional additional practice sheets will be assigned after each class to reinforce concepts taught. The homework, provided as an optional resource, will be checked for correctness within 48 hours of submission. Completion of these assignments is at the discretion of individual students, considering their learning preferences and needs.
Assessment
Informal assessments, such as running records and observations, will be continuously used in this class. These assessments serve the purpose of supporting and adjusting content and reading levels appropriately to meet the needs of the learners. The emphasis is on ongoing, in-class assessments to inform instruction and provide real-time feedback. Participation in these assessments is expected from all students to ensure personalized and effective learning experiences.

⭐︎What will be taught?
In this 12-week class, learners will explore a well-structured curriculum designed to enhance elementary English Language Arts (ELA) skills. Emphasis will be placed on developing reading proficiency, comprehension, expanding vocabulary, grammar, and mastering effective writing techniques.

⭐︎Topics Covered:
The course will cover key ELA skills, including reading proficiency, comprehension strategies, vocabulary expansion, grammar, and effective writing techniques. Each week will focus on a specific genre of reading, incorporating two comprehension skills – a literal strategy and a deeper comprehension strategy.

⭐︎Class Structure:
The weekly schedule is divided into two days. Day one features the introduction of the week's reading genre, comprehension skills, exposure to new vocabulary, and a grammar lesson. On day two, learners revisit the text of the week, engaging in a writing activity prompted by the material.

⭐︎Teaching Approach:
Each session will involve an interactive presentation using Google Slides. Learners actively participate by matching, drawing, dissecting, and writing about the concepts covered. Lessons are structured around demonstrations, prompts, and individual practice to ensure sustained engagement with the material.

⭐︎Teaching Style:
The teaching style is characterized by a blend of fun, engagement, interactivity, and thought-provoking activities. The goal is to create an enjoyable and enriching learning experience.

⭐︎Interaction with Learners and Peers:
Daily interaction with both content and peers is encouraged. Games and interactive slides are incorporated to promote engagement. Learners will have opportunities for discussion, collaborative activities, and participation in various interactive elements throughout each session.
