Beginner - Advanced Level
Every learner is unique—so is this class! Tailored for ages 9–12, this 50-minute session uses the renowned Barton program, built on the principles of the Orton-Gillingham approach, to provide personalized support and measurable progress.

What They’ll Learn:

Phonemic awareness, decoding, spelling, and fluency skills tailored to their tested level.
Structured, multisensory strategies to overcome reading challenges with confidence.
Tools to foster mastery and independent reading through consistent, research-based methods.

Class Structure:

Warm-Up: Engaging activity or review to set the tone.
Main Lesson: Instruction using the Barton Reading and Spelling Program, adapted to each child’s level and needs.
Cool-Down: Progress check and goal-setting for next session.
Why This Class?
This class follows the Barton Reading and Spelling Program, a research-based, structured literacy method developed from the well-respected Orton-Gillingham approach, which is proven to support students with dyslexia. Each child begins at their assessed level, progressing through lessons that build foundational reading and spelling skills.

To achieve the best results, this class requires a minimum commitment of two sessions per week. This frequency is essential to ensure the repetition and consistency needed to rewire the dyslexic brain for reading success and long-term retention.

Learning Needs
This class is specifically designed for students with dyslexia, using the Barton Curriculum, an Orton-Gillingham program, to provide targeted, intensive instruction.
Parental Guidance
No specific content warnings, but please ensure your child is comfortable using a computer that supports the remote control feature on Zoom. A quiet environment with minimal distractions is recommended for optimal learning. Please double-check which class time you would like with me before enrolling. My schedule will be flexible for the summer.
Pre-Requisites
Students will need to pass a pretest for memory and sound manipulation. They should already know their letters and sounds.
Supply List
A computer that supports the remote control feature through Zoom.

All students will be required to manipulate the Barton sound/letter tiles during class. 

A headset for listening closely to sounds without background noise or distractions.
