What will be taught?
- How to successfully make a beautiful sound on the violin/viola

What topics will be covered? - This is dependent on the level of your student. Below are examples of what we would learn if your student is a beginner.

- intonation
- steady beat
- pizzicato and arco

How will this class be structured?
- Tuning

How will I teach?
- Students are expected to practice between our weekly lessons. I like to listen to what the student has practiced fully, before we dive deep into the different music that we will be working on. I will teach using examples of my own playing.

Whats my teaching style?
- I like to use a variety of methods when teaching beginner and intermediate violin/viola students. I use exercises from the Essential Elements method books, as well as pieces from Solos for Young Violinists. I am always open to working on pieces outside of the repertoire that I personally own.

How much will learners get to interact with me?
- Lessons will be one on one where we will play back and forth. Students will be able to demonstrate what they are learning every week.
Learning Goals

I have a Honors Bachlor's in Music Education with a focus in violin. I started learning piano at the age of five, and began learning the violin in the 6th grade. While working toward my degree, I also took private lessons for the viola, cello, and double bass. During my time at the university, I was given the opportunity to participate in the full orchestra on campus, performing a wide variety of classical music. Currently, I am performing in a community orchestra in my town where we perform four performances a year, as well as in person teaching a local music school. I do have 3 years of experience in public school teaching at the elementary level, teaching general music.
