A growing number of studies show that emotional intelligence or EQ (self-awareness, social awareness, and interpersonal competence) is the most significant predictor of overall personal success and while we can improve our EQ at any age studies conclude that our childhood experiences primarily influence it. Having good character, a positive attitude, and knowing how to get along with people are key elements for life-long success. 

One of the goals of this class is to help provide an opportunity for parents to engage in healthy conversation with kids about important topics such as character, critical thinking, and decision-making skills without the lecture. It’s an opportunity to invite questions, share thoughts, and grow together. 

How this flex class works
Modules will open weekly. Each new module will have an instruction video (some videos have embedded YouTube videos) and assignments for your family to complete and share in the virtual classroom. Learner are encouraged to both ask and respond to questions posted in the classroom. Assignments can include responding to classroom questions, worksheets, and craft style projects. Sharing of work in the classroom will help create a rich learning environment where we will interact weekly fostering a sense of community.

受講に必要なもの

Materials will be provided for printing in class as needed. Some of the classes require easily obtained craft items, for example, a box or a jar. If you do not have access to these exact items we can find workarounds.

Northern Lights Academy is a Canadian based educational platform offering classes for
children ages 3 – 18 from any learning path, whether that is a
traditional school setting or home education. We offer both academic
and exploratory classes, and operate with the intention of supporting,
enhancing, and supplementing learning for all children on their
individual education journey.

Here at Northern Lights Academy, we strive to foster a love of learning,
encourage learners to become curious of the world around them, and to
feel confident in their abilities and sense of self. It's our belief,
that every child has a gift and it's our responsibility as educators to
help them recognize it and embrace it.

Whether you are looking for academic support for your child(ren) or
enrichment classes to take learning just a little bit deeper, we aim to
have classes to support what you are looking for.
