What's included
1 live meeting
30 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
This class is designed to inspire and bring joy to students. This is not a formal language arts curriculum, rather it is a place for children to have fun and build confidence in writing. Reluctant writers and talented young writers are equally welcome! Our class will follow this format: 1) "Would you rather..." question to cultivate imagination 2) Animal theme to provide content 3) New vocabulary word, definition, and examples to offer some inspiration 4) Brainstorming session to plan plot elements of our fictional short story 5) Students have the option to write on their own or contribute to our class story 6) Students may share anything they wish to share PLEASE NOTE: While students have the option to deviate from the class story and write on their own, we will create a story together, eliminating the need for children to do any physical writing or typing. Our completed work will be shared with students so that they can keep what we create! No homework, no lectures, and no judgement. I am an upbeat and very patient person who adapts well to make all learners feel comfortable. I would be happy to answer any questions or concerns you have and look forward to working with your family! Sample schedule: Week 1 - Wolves story planning Week 2 - Wolves story completion Week 3 - Horse story planning Week 4 - Horse story completion
Learning Goals
My hope is for every child to believe in themselves and realize they have something valuable to offer whether they write for their own self-expression or to pursue professional writing.
