In this hour long class we will take a look at the five pieces that make a story a page-turner. Things like a likeable character, a reachable goal, high stakes, obstacles, and small victories. I will lead the class with some lecture time going over each of these pieces. Then we'll jump into some interactive time looking at classic stories like Little Women, Anne of Green Gables, and Sarah Plain and Tall to recognize these pieces in. There will be time for questions and discussion as well!...

I have studied four years at the Author Conservatory where I graduated with a certificate in Creative Writing and Publishing. I also have published my debut novel and am in the process of releasing book two.

No prerequisites required! Just an interest in writing a novel that will make you and its readers keep turning the pages.
A pen and notebook for note taking during the lecture is advised. I will have a summary of the stories we will be referencing at the beginning of class, but they are welcome to read them beforehand if students would like.
We will be referring to the stories of Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, and Sarah Plain and Tall as examples of stories with the pieces we are learning.
