ハーパーコリンズの小説家ブリアナ・シュラムと一緒に中級レベルの本を書こう

In this class, learners will meet with me over the course of six months to write a book. Aimed at middle schoolers, we will strive for a typical middle grade-length work, which can range anywhere from around 100 pages to 200, depending on your learner's speed and the needs of their story. We will cover all the essential elements of writing a book, exploring topics like character, description, setting, voice, plot, pacing, and virtually everything else that goes into creating a really dynamic work of fiction.

I tend to follow the Ms. Frizzle School of Educator Vibes, so my teaching style is super dynamic and highly interactive! Students should come ready to learn and to share their own work and respond to the work of others. I highly encourage asking questions, trying again and again, (even if that means falling on our faces sometimes!) and being excited about learning. I love to create environments in all my classrooms that are encouraging and funny while also being thorough and advanced and nuanced with content.

Students will interact with me during class discussions, lecture, workshops, and with material feedback I will provide to every learner in the class outside of the meeting time.

I provide feedback outside of class on ALL workshop assignments and, beyond that, will review in detail up to 10 double spaced pages of prose for your student to keep.
