このクラスで学べること

Professor Imaginoria (the teacher, Jessica Gray, who teaches in costume & in character) will welcome students into The Imaginorium Wizarding Academy, a virtual Wizarding School of drama on The Rainbow Path. When students join the class they will be asked to take a "sorting quiz," and in their first class they will be sorted into one of our unique houses:
Waverider (with the quality of peace, the color blue, and the mascot of the narwhal), Windhorse (with the quality of love, color green, and the mascot of the pegasus), Phoenixfire (with the quality of hope, the color red, and the mascot of a phoenix), or Stonedragon (with the quality of strength, the color yellow, and the mascot of a dragon).

The Imaginorium is an inclusive Wizarding Academy. We accept and teach diversity of race, religion, class, sexual orientation, & gender identity at all age levels. We seek to create a safe space for all.

Students will have an opportunity to learn about the seven founders of The Imaginorium Academy as we work on original staged reading dramatizations. We will be working on a play called: Atla: Hope's Journey

It's a feminist mythology retelling creation of the world written by a 16-year-old. The play has 30 different characters but was written to be performed by far fewers actors. In its first performance only 9 actors managed well.

Other activities planned for the 2023 school year include
- The Key to the Rainbow Path (the founding of the school)
- The In-Between (a student-written show)
- Cosmos and the Universe Flower
- The Cat-Tastrophe
- Phoebe Phoenixfire and the Onethings
- The Light of Joy
- The Frogpocalypse
- and more!

According to the ongoing class's interests, Professor Imaginoria will guide students through acting & drama lessons based on The Rainbow Path. We do work on ongoing projects, so if you join the class based on a class opening we may be in the middle of a project. We will always work to welcome new students into the project. Students are welcome to drop in and out as needed, and their roles will be filled on an as-needed basis. If a student misses several times, they may not get the same role when they return.

Activities include:
- Reader’s theatre (including movement, costumes, and backgrounds when possible) leading to a virtual “performance”
- Original character creation & drama games

**Please Note Regarding Dates: I teach all of my ongoing classes indefinitely through the school year. Students are welcome to join at any time. If a new student joins, we will find a way for them to join the play we are working on. It has always worked.**

Occasionally we may choose to make props or costumes. If we do, a suggested supply list will be sent to parents at least a week in advance. Students should also BYOW (bring your own wand) and dress in costume if possible to enhance the magic, but this is optional, of course.
