💥 For more scheduled classes, please scroll down to “Show Alternative Times.” Yes, it's true that the ancient Egyptians didn't have a name for art. That's how much art was an integral part of their lives just like their gods and goddesses. Art in all different forms surrounded them in their world, just as buildings surround us in our cities without us noticing. In this two-session class, we will discover why so many people are attracted to ancient Egyptian art. Session 1. Just What is...

Week 1Lesson 1Just What Is So Special About Ancient Egyptian Art?√ How our brains are wired to like the particular art of the ancient Egyptians. √ How symmetry, power, mysticism and color all work together to make Egyptian art different than that of other cultures. √ The fascination of the ancient Egyptians with the almond-shaped eye (shown in all paintings and carvings). √ The color that only the Ancient Egyptians recognized among other ancient cultures. √ The strange reason ancient Egyptians made statues in the first place.Week 2Lesson 2Jewelry, Hieroglyphics and Furniture As Art.√ The semi-precious stones that the ancient Egyptians used for their jewelry. √ The ceramic color that was invented by the ancient Egyptians that we cannot recreate even today. √ The role of amulets in ancient Egyptian art and how they are similar to the talismans of America's Indigenous Peoples. √ Why hieroglyphics are a form of art, just as Islamic letters are used in writing and calligraphy today. √ The aesthetic features of ancient Egyptian furniture.
1. Art is more than forms and colors. Art is determined by a culture's spiritual beliefs, concept of beauty and its attitude regarding reality. 2. How ancient Egyptian art at its peak differed from other ancient art in the same time period, such as that of the Assyrians. 3. Who were the artists and craftspeople in ancient Egypt? And what was their status?
I hold a Certificate of Museum Studies from Harvard University and a Diploma in Egyptology from Oxford College in England. And I’ve been to Egypt three times on personalized, educational tours. I've been captivated by ancient Egypt since I was 10 years old. And I feel it's my destiny to share my enthusiasm for and expertise on this beautiful and brilliant 5000-year-old civilization with all of you. I hope to see you soon in this class. I think you'll agree that The Egyptian Room is an attractive, fun and inspiring place to learn. And, please, if you like, call me Ms. Sennuwy - my chosen ancient Egyptian name.
宿題が提供されます
I will ask students to select their favorite art of the ancient Egyptians to show the class. This will be by the way of images or objects. Students can either show what they've selected by sharing them during the class - or send them to me and I will insert them into the Keynote (Apple) presentation.授業以外に週あたり 0 - 1 時間の学習が期待されます
評価が提供されます
There will be an informal, fun quiz at the beginning of the class (which students can download before) to see how much they know about ancient Egyptian art, and I will go over the same quiz with the students to see what they've learned after the class.成績が提供されます
