Hi my name is Maddie, and super excited to learn with you!
All of my classes, are targeted for ages 4-9 and 10-15 and are based on marine life and how is its effected by climate change. We will explore one of the most beautiful, diverse, and crucial ecosystems known to planet, coral reefs! Every learner will have the opportunity to discuss and ask questions during the presentation and informational videos about sea creatures and their environment.
As an educator, I have experience in all different subjects and I have taught in elementary school and high school to special education students. During my undergrad at Bridgewater State University as an environmental science major with a minor in sustainability, I was able to teach and spread awareness about climate change on campus!
Each classes has two different sections for ages 4-9 and then ages 10-15.
Classes I can teach and offer:
-Art classes!
-Sea horses and aquatic animals
-Sea creature of corals
-The power of the reefs
-Ocean explorers
-Save the planet
-Recycling 101
-Exploring the Rainforest
-Exploring the Safari
“ Be the change you wish to see in the world” -Ghandi
I believe the best way to make an impact is to teach the youth, our future, the importance of sustaining our earth and all the creatures that live in it. If we taught children at a young age to recycle instead of litter, or to use reusable water bottles, sustainable habits would be done naturally.
Something fun and personal:
I am a Certified National Geographic Educator. A passion of mine has always been caring for and spreading awareness about environmental issues as well as teaching children. During my undergrad, I was the president of the Earth Club at Bridgewater State and it was my responsibility to spread awareness about human destruction, climate change, and the impact it makes on our ecosystems which are crucial to keep a healthy planet. With a minor in sustainability, my capstone research project was specifically on the importance of all ecosystems, especially coral reefs. I have traveled to research and observe the different coral reefs around the world including the Caribbean and European countries. I currently volunteer for three shelters around the world and I promote animals that need to be rescued. Through my volunteering I work with children of all ages. I interview the families and work with the children teaching them how to properly care for their pets.
See you in class!
