Have you done watercolor but need some practice? Have you seen some cool tricks being used for watercolor and want to learn yourself? This art class is designed for the artist who is curious about trying different techniques with watercolor. Students will learn eighteen different watercolor techniques that include but not limited to: painting wet on dry, wet on wet, using salt, rubbing alcohol, plastic wrap, paper towels, and more! After learning 18 watercolor techniques, students will focus on flowers and how to properly utilize the recently learned watercolor techniques. Students will learn how to draw different types of flowers for the last four weeks. The last four weeks will incorporate different flowers and utilize different techniques and approaches. Please note this class will focus on FLOWERS ONLY. No branches, wildlife, or insects will be executed in this class. This class is structured to go step-by-step as a class. This class will be presented via Keynote and is an art based class. This is a SELF PACED class and is PRE-RECORDED. This means students will watch the pre-recorded video. Students will engage in questions, class discussions, and art assignments. Homework is recommended. Students will be encouraged to share their artwork. Why SELF PACED? 🔰 Self paced classes are fantastic for international students (Mrs. V is located in Texas). 🔰 Students can work at their own pace. No need to wait on others or feel rushed. 🔰 Self paced classes are an excellent choice for families with busy schedules. 🔰 This class is a "self paced" class, meaning there is no live component, and all interactions between students and the teacher happens on the class page. SELF PACED FORMAT: 🔹 Video Content: Weekly videos with a step-by-step breakdown of the art assignments are posted. Some videos will have a 20 to 35 minute duration. The work time for the student will be roughly an hour long. Students will review the video. 🔹 Discussion Prompt/Question/Check-in: Students respond to a weekly discussion prompt and/or question(s) posted by the teacher. 🔹 Complete Artwork: Students spend time completing their sketches. 🔹 Submit Artwork: Students are required to post photos of their completed sketches in the classroom on the designated post. Sharing artwork is essential in a self paced class. 🔹 Feedback: Individualized feedback will not be given unless directly requested.

Starter Week: 18 Watercolor Techniques
Students will create a grid and focus on 18 different watercolor techniques. レッスン 2:
Tulips/Sunflowers (begin)
Students will use two techniques from week 1 to create the tulips; flat wash and wet-on-dry. Students will begin the process for the sunflower project. レッスン 3:
Bluebonnets/Sunflowers (continuation)
Students will use three different techniques for the bluebonnet practice; wet-on-wet, graded wash, and a variegated wash with "no wipe". Students will continue working on the sunflower. レッスン 4:
Orchids/Sunflowers (continuation)
Students will use five different techniques for the orchid practice; flat wash, utilizing rubbing alcohol, wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, and a splatter technique. Students will continue working on the sunflower. その他の情報

Students will be painting throughout this class. Please set up an area where your child can use the computer while working with paint. Students will be encouraged to work on an angled surface. Please prop their paper/sketchbook so it can be at an angle. They need to be able to work on both a flat surface and an angled surface. You can attach the watercolor paper with tape to a board and prop it or use a book to prop against. This is highly recommended as we will use gravity to manipulate the paint.

💠 Watercolors 💠 Watercolor brushes 💠 Watercolor paper 💠 Cup (for water) 💠 Towels/rags (excess water/accidental spillage) 💠 Pencil 💠 Pencil sharpener 💠 Eraser (vinyl recommended) 💠 Fine-tip permanent pen (for labeling purposes. Micron and Sharpie recommended. No bic or paper-mate pens) 💠 Circle template (or a compass) 💠 Rubbing alcohol (use a separate clean brush for this and have a small container for the rubbing alcohol to be in) 💠 Sea salt 💠 Pepper (freshly cracked pepper is best) 💠 Used coffee grounds 💠 Plastic wrap (Saran Wrap) 💠 Paper towels 💠 Natural sponge 💠 Masking tape (please use the blue painters tape. The white artist tape and kids tape doesn't do well with watercolors and it will go under the artist tape instead of making a barrier. If you don't have masking tape, have you child draw the grid instead).
