Students will enhance their vocabulary retention capabilities with the following six (6) learning goals: sight-reading, pronunciation, mnemonics, synonym clusters, mind maps, and application

Having taught kindergarten and elementary students for about four (4) years now both in the classroom and online, I am confident in my educational prowess. And please note that your learner's safety and well-being is our utmost priority. Students will learn and practice life-long skills to improve their English literacy skills. And, most importantly, they will find the joy in doing so! I am certain that students will leave the class in a happy mood with a newfound passion for English!

At the conclusion of each class, students will have access to a full list of new vocabulary words. Oftentimes, these words will be classified into various clusters based on meaning, context, part of speech, and more. Based on the flow of the class, students will be given a writing assignment using a set number of words. If students wish to use all words, they may, but it is not mandatory.

Homework is optional and I leave it to the discretion of the learner's parent(s). However, if it is completed, it will be checked and revised for the benefit of the student!

There will be vocabulary assessments given once a month for regular learners (during the last class of the month). The vocabulary list will be provided ahead of time via announcements.

While it is not mandatory by any means, basic English communication skills will greatly help. But if students are beginners, that is completely okay!

We may use English targeted for kindergarten and early elementary students such as McGraw Hill's Wonders textbooks. Other texts include educational articles for children like National Geographic Kids, Smithsonian Magazine, and/or Okido. Any and all texts used will incorporate and strictly adhere to Common Core State Standards. And texts / media will be listed for guardians to view beforehand (i.e. YouTube videos, Google Slides, etc.).
