This course is designed for Year 4 & 5 learners planning to sit secondary school entrance examinations. It will focus on the Verbal Reasoning part of the exams. Learners will be prepared for a variety of test types, both in terms of knowledge and exam technique. The course will cover the content for both the CEM and GL 11+ tests, as well as entrance exams for independent schools. My aim is to equip the learners with the Verbal Reasoning skills they need to achieve success, not only in fiercely competitive entrance examinations but beyond, for whatever their secondary education has in store for them. The weekly classes will be 25 minutes long as I find that children learn more effectively in short, sharp bursts. We will work through past questions together in a fun, friendly environment where every learner has a chance to contribute. There will be optional extra work given every week to practise the skills learnt that week at home. It is recommended that learners aiming to take their 11+ exams also join the weekly courses I offer in Maths, English and Non Verbal Reasoning alongside Verbal Reasoning to ensure complete preparation. You are welcome to join any topic that you feel you need support with or stay for a longer period of time to ensure full confidence in all of the Verbal Reasoning topics for the 11+ Plus. Learners will consolidate, develop and extend their learning across the key areas of Verbal Reasoning: The Alphabet, Making Words, Word Meanings, Sequences, Logic and Coding. They will be equipped with the Verbal Reasoning skills needed for secondary school entrance exams such as the 11+ Plus.

受講に必要なもの
Learners will be given worksheets to print out and bring to each class. They should also have a good selection of writing equipment. It would be useful for learners to have a small notebook to keep a dictionary of new and interesting words that they come across during the course.

Hi! My name is Helen and I am a qualified primary school teacher based in the UK. I have 2 small children so am taking a break from a full time teaching job after a 15 year career in British schools.
After graduating from Oxford University with a BA degree, I then went on to achieve an MA degree in Primary Education. I have a particular interest in Early Years, Maths, English, History, Geography, Science and the 11 Plus Exam.
I believe that learning can be great fun and is the key to opening many doors for children. I am particularly passionate about good phonics teaching for young children and creating a love of learning that will carry them through life. Over the last 2 years I have spent many hours tutoring children who have fallen behind due to Covid19, mainly in maths and English. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing these children make such amazing progress and would like to continue to do this through Outschool. I also enjoy helping children to achieve their full potential in passing the UK 11+ Exam and have seen many of my pupils go on to enjoy a place in Grammar School.レビュー
