We will discuss the fact that we all have an inner coach and we all have an inner critic. 

We will learn the difference between things our inner coach says (positive, encouraging things), and what the inner critic says (negative discouraging thoughts). 

We will learn that thoughts lead to feelings, which lead to actions, and then this cycle repeats when we think about what we did and why we did it. We will sort thoughts from the inner coach and inner critic using Google slides.


We will talk about making the inner coach stronger by choosing to listen to the inner coach, and choosing to ignore or correct the inner critic. We can't choose our thoughts, but we can choose which thoughts we believe. That decision gives us the power to strengthen the voice of our inner coach, and to weaken the voice of our inner critic. 

We will discuss the following questions as well:

- Why does it help us to listen to our inner coach?
- How can you coach your own inner critic into more realistic and positive thinking? Do you think getting mad at your inner critic will help?
- Give an example of a negative thought from the inner critic, and think about how your inner coach could reframe it.
- Why do you think we sometimes believe what the inner critic says? Why don’t we always listen to our inner coach?
- How can you recognize when you are being overly critical of yourself? What are some clues?
- What would you say to a friend whose inner critic is discouraging them? Could you say the same thing to yourself?
