このクラスで学べること

During this interactive storytelling class, students will explore summer in the great outdoors of the USA. They will follow our Little Explorer Aiden as he uses his imagination to have an unforgettable summer vacation.

In this story, students see how American children sometimes use their imagination to have fun adventures in their backyards during summer. Our Little Explorer Aiden wants to have fun this summer even though his parents are busy with his new baby brother. In his tent in the back yard, Aiden travels to space with his robots. Then the next day he travels for a night safari ride in his backyard with his entire family. Lastly, Aiden goes on an underwater adventure. Students play "I Spy" games as Aiden looks for animals while on a safari and snorkeling.

The class will begin with a very short introduction to the great outdoors of a home in the USA. Next, students will listen to the teacher read the story. Throughout the lesson, Teacher MoMo will ask questions and have students share their drawings/items from their scavenge hunt worksheet. By the end of the lesson, students will have a better understanding of the fun of playing outdoors with the family. To end the class, students will play a quick bingo game to review the story.

Upon enrolling in this class, students will receive a pre-lesson activity; students should complete the scavenge hunt worksheet prior to the class in order for students to show their unique items in class. Students will need an adult's help to research states.
学習到達目標
Students will develop a basic understanding of the culture of the USA by exploring how one family plays outside in their backyard for summer fun time. Also, students will improve their critical thinking skills by completing the scavenge hunt worksheet before class. Then students will share their worksheet findings in the class, and thereby, work on their social communicative skills.

I am passionate about teaching appreciation of our world's cultures, societies, and people in a fun and engaging way that will spark a lifelong curiosity about our global community and a desire to be active and productive community members. I would like to work with learners from 6 to 18 years old. I have a degree in Sociology from UCLA, visited more than 30 countries, and lived/taught in five countries. I love to explore our global community from teas to art to traditional clothing.

Since 2005, I have taught English as a foreign language. I have taught in Asia, Central America, South America and North America. I have taught all age levels from young learners to middle school students to college students. For the past five years, I have been teaching English online to very young learners in China.

I believe learning should be fun, interactive and relevant to students' lives. Students should be inspired and encouraged to be active learners and full participants in developing their knowledge of the world.

On a personal note, I have two big dreams that I'm pursuing now. The first is to live in London for a year as a writer. Because of the Covid pandemic, I am not sure when this will happen. The second is to publish The Next Great American Novel. (I have a Master's degree in Nonfiction Writing from USC.)
