This 6-week course is the 5th of 6 classes in the "Understanding Physics" series. This class will focus on Electricity and Magnetism. This will include identifying variables in word problems, choosing which formula to use to get the correct answer, calculating and identifying parts of circuits, and communicating electrical and magnetic force interactions. Lessons will include a variety of examples of how electricity and magnetism are relevant in our everyday lives. Each week a new lesson will be uploaded that will include notes, labs (at-home or virtual), and an assignment to practice what they've learned. Assignments may range from webquests, online scavanger hunts, writing prompts, or word problems that require calculations. This class will utilize both Nearpod and Flipgrid. These platforms will allow students to experience online simulations for "Labs" and be able to interact withe each other and myself, through discussion boards, video messages, games, etc. Lessons will include videos, polls, a collaboration activity for students to share ideas, articles for students to read and refer to, open-ended questions, and lots of pictures! There will be an optional quiz given during the 7th week for students to gauge what they've learned through the course. Upon  parental quest, I will provide grades for assignments completed and the quiz. Successful completion of all 6 "Understanding Physics" courses mean the student has completed an entire high school physics class. 

Week 1 
 Students will be taught to calculate, compare, and contrast the electrical and gravitational forces between two charged objects.

Week 2 -
Students will be learn to qualitatively explain charge transfer by conduction, friction, and induction.

Week 3 -
Students will construct an explanation of the behavior of charges in terms of electrical potential energy.

Week 4 - 
Students will investigate the relationship between voltage, current, and power in direct circuits. This will include applying Ohm's Law to series, parallel, and complex circuits.

Week 5 -
Students will learn to clarify the relationship between electric currents and magnetic fields (i.e. motors and generators.)

Week 6 -
Students will learn how magnetic properties of the Earth affect our daily lives and technology, as well as how the Earth's magnetic field affects certain phenomena in nature (i.e. Northern lights and migration patterns in animals.)

Week 7- A review of all concepts covered thus far in the course, and then an assessment will be given to show mastery of the subject matter.
