The time before written records is called prehistory. Even though there aren't written records there is still information about the world from long ago. Using a chemistry process called carbon dating, scientists can calculate the age of ancient remains of plants, animals, and even humans! In this one-time class you will learn about chemistry basics, draw an atom, and listen and discuss as I explain how chemistry helps us learn about ancient history! The lesson will involve: ~ Watching a slideshow to see basics of chemistry and carbon dating ~ Listening as I explain how the science of carbon dating works ~ Drawing a diagram of an atom and a diagram explaining carbon dating ~ Writing a couple of notes about chemistry vocabulary words (optional) ~ Discussing the uses of carbon dating
学習到達目標

I specialize in finding fun twists to standard curriculum to help my students build critical thinking skills as well as scientific knowledge. By adding a new twist to a familiar topic we can expand our thinking to include new possibilities. I have taught science to homeschool students for the last 16 years and during that time I have developed many teaching techniques and hands-on projects to help students explore concepts in new and exciting ways.
