In this course, students will receive an LGBT+ history lesson as it pertains to David Rose from Schitts Creek as a modern, balanced character. I will teach by lecturing mostly, though we will watch clips from Schitts Creek and materials from the past. It is no problem if your learner has not seen Schitts Creek, though we will be spoiling some of the show in discussing it. As well, we will be discussing what we look for as fans of TV shows and how they represent the LGBT+ community, from the limitations and downfalls to the praises and what goes "above and beyond" to create realistic and positive representation. A summary of all topics discussed in the class: Pre-Stonewall America and McCarthyism, The Stonewall Movement, Notable LGBT+ Characters Past and Present. *PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOUR LEARNER WANTS TO TAKE THIS CLASS, I WANT THEM TO BE ABLE TO TAKE IT. SUGGEST ANOTHER TIME IF YOU WOULD LIKE*
