Tutus and Jazz Shoes is a wonderful Introduction to both Ballet and Jazz Dance for young learners. Class will consist of a 5 minute "getting to know you", 15 minutes of Ballet and 15 minutes of Jazz. Class will begin with a brief warm up and stretch working up to splits and straddles. Ballet technique will include the five Ballet positions, plies, relieves, tendu, arabesque, coupe, passé and achappe. Basic motor skills such as hopping, skipping and gallops will be addressed. All danced to our favorite Princess music! Jazz Dance technique will include side touch, Jazz squares, 3-step turns and pivot turns. All danced to age appropriate music such as “Kidz Bop”. Learners will be allowed to interact with the instructor. I teach strong technique in a fun positive environment. I want my dancers to finish class not only with knowledge of dance, but a love of dance and with a smile! Week 1- 3/7: Ballet Positions, Plie, Jazz Square Week 2- 3/14: Releve, Coupe, Passe, Side touches, Cross Touches Week 3- 3/21: Jumps, Hops, Gallups, 3-step turn Week 4- 3/28: Leaps, Arabesque, Pivot Turns

*An open space free of obstacles is necessary for the safety of your dancer.
*A leotard is perfect, but not required. Comfortable, stretchy clothing will work as well.
*Please pull long hair up.
*A water bottle is great too.

I have been teaching all forms of dance for 32 years! I am a 1991 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Manhattanville College with a minor in Dance. While there, I focused on Jazz, Ballet, and Modern. I even performed in the Soviet Union in 1989!
I opened my dance school at the age of 23 and still love it! I teach all ages Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe and Modern. My true specialty is Jazz. I love the energy and unique creativity available though Jazz Dance.
Dance class is more than just "dance". It teaches grace, poise, discipline and self confidence. All qualities that will benefit a student in all areas of their lives.
I have been happily married for 24 years and have a 19 year old son who is a sophmore at Fairfield University. He even competed in Jazz and Hip Hop until 7th grade when soccer took over!
I'm looking forward to sharing my knowledge and love of dance with the Outschool Community.レビュー
