In this four-week course, we'll meet once a week for 50 minutes, to discuss the novel "Tuck Everlasting" by Natalie Babbit. "Tuck Everlasting" is a classic children's novel that explores the themes of life, death, and the pursuit of happiness. The story follows a young girl named Winnie Foster, who becomes entangled in the lives of the Tuck family after discovering their secret of immortality. Students will read the assigned chapters before we meet each week. In class, we'll discuss what we read and the themes that surround the novel. Our activities will include discussions, journal writing, and games to check comprehension. Throughout the course, students will work on a project that they will present at the end of the course. 📋 Class Format We'll start each class by reviewing the assigned reading by answering comprehension questions and discussing the events that occurred in the chapters read. We will show understanding through quick comprehension checks. We'll discuss character behaviors and add them to our character list in our journals. Next, the teacher will introduce the focus topic for the class. We'll review vocabulary for the upcoming week and assign a discussion/writing prompt.
