Dancers need a clear, safe area to dance--approximately 6 ft by 6 ft to dance free of objects on the floor. Wood floor is preferred. Highland dance is extremely athletic, and cardiovascular.--thus difficult if someone has asthma. Make sure dancer has inhaler if he/she has asthma. Make sure that dancer has a water bottle and a chair to hold onto, OR a dance barre.
