 Students will learn about new notes for Grade 2, focusing on note values, ties, and the quaver rest. Students will explore ledger lines and the bass clef, as well as the dotted crotchet and semiquaver. Through practical exercises, students will gain a solid understanding of how these elements contribute to musical notation and rhythm. This knowledge will enhance their ability to read and write music accurately, fostering their overall musical development. 

 Students will explore new time signatures, learning how they shape the feel of music through slow and fast beats. Students will examine the concept of syncopation and its role in creating rhythmic interest and complexity. Through practical exercises and listening activities, students will develop a deeper understanding of how these elements contribute to musical expression, enhancing their ability to interpret and perform diverse musical styles. 

 Students will study the relationship between relative minors and majors, focusing on how these keys are interconnected. Students will explore the characteristics of minor keys, understanding their unique tonal qualities compared to major keys. Students will learn methods for identifying relative minor keys, including locating the tonic and recognizing key signatures. Through practical exercises, they will develop skills in transposing between major and minor keys. 

 Students will explore the natural and harmonic minor scales, beginning with an understanding of what a natural minor scale is and how to construct it. They will study the natural minor scales for the keys of E minor and D minor, gaining practical experience in recognizing and playing these scales. Additionally, students will delve into the harmonic minor scale, learning how it differs from the natural minor scale and its unique characteristics.
