Discussion and Participation: - Observe how student respond to the weekly topic discussions. - Evaluate their participation in class discussions, games, and group activities. 2. Vocabulary Quizzes: - Administer short quizzes or flashcard sessions to assess their knowledge of ASL signs for various topics, such as numbers, animals, or food. 3. Performance Assessments: - Students will participate in weekly ASL project videos, that showcase what the student has learned. 4. Parent Feedback: - Seek feedback from parents to understand their child's progress, especially in terms of communication and the application of ASL in daily life. (If applicable) 5. In this ASL class for children aged 6-10, learners will work at their own pace learning basic ASL signs related to a certain topic. There will be no in person classes. I aim to provide a comprehensive and engaging learning experience through video lessons and ASL projects.

It is important to note that, to be fully immersed in the course, you need to purchase the ASL Class Activity Workbook and ASL Flashcards. This can be found at faithinliteracy.com is a class bundle for $35.99 ($15 for Outschool students with the discount code that will be sent to you upon signing up for this class.). This bundle includes the 268 page activity book and 310 ASL flashcards.

Weekly Schedule:

Each week the students will have a lesson video to watch (on average 35-45 minutes in length). There are built-in pauses in the video to encourage interaction between the student and the teacher. To help your child on their journey in this course, each week your child will also have:
* Weekly Checklist
* Flashcards (purchased at faithinliteracy.com)
* ASL song video from lesson
* Flashcard Vocabulary video to help with signs (also with some bonus signs)
* ASL Class Activity Workbook (purchased at faithinliteracy.com)

I will also be encouraging your child to complete different ASL video projects to demonstrate their understanding of the topic and signs, as well as participate in any "pop" quizzes or cumulative reviews.

Instructor-Student Interaction:

In addition to interacting with the instructor through questions, discussion, and feedback on homework and projects (Outschool Messaging or Email), the instructor and student can have periodically "check-in's" to evaluate the learner’s needs and progress together. The instructor is available for “Office Hours” to meet with the learner over Zoom once every 6 week section of the course, if needed. For example, Weeks 1-6 = 1 Zoom Check-in; Weeks 7-12 = 1 Zoom Check-in (So, 2 times per course.). Contact the instructor if you want this Zoom Check-in.

At the end of the program, the students will have a solid foundation in basic ASL, covering the outlined topics.

Teaching Method:

My teaching approach is highly interactive and engaging. I focus on Science of Reading strategies with a structured literacy approach. I will use TpT, Faith in Literacy, Kahoot, and Core Knowledge materials and resources, among others. Each session combines a variety of teaching methods, including:

4. Visual Aids: Utilization of images, charts, and videos to enhance understanding.
5. Discussion: Encouraging learners to share thoughts and questions.
6. Reviews: Regular informal assessments to track progress.

Learner Interaction:

Learners will have ample opportunities to interact with me throughout the class. Interaction methods may include:

1. Discussion: Engaging in conversations about the reading material.
2. Interactive Games: Playing games to reinforce concepts.
3. Singing & Signing: Singing songs related to the topic & vocabulary words.
4. Show and Tell: Encouraging learners to share their thoughts and stories.
